Eligibility and Prizes
The Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities between the ages of 18 and 35. Eligibility age is determined by the application deadline of February 20th, 2024. It is understood that members of the International Jury may be acquainted with some participants in the competition because of past associations (for example, previous competitions, music festivals, master classes, or enrollment at academic institutions). Current students of jury members can participate in the competition but must disclose that information in the application or will be disqualified. Jury members whose student/s are competing must disclose the affiliation with the student and will be excused from voting.
1st Prize: $20,000
Hotel accommodation, airfare reimbursement up to $1,000. Performance with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra and community outreach 2025 season. Airfare and accommodations approximately $5,000. Total value approximately $26,000. Subject to US tax rules.
2nd Prize: $15,000
Hotel accommodation, airfare reimbursement up to $1,000. All-paid performance of a joint solo recital with 3rd Prize winner at UTEP’s Borderland Chopin Festival 2025, and community outreach. Total value approximately $20,000. Subject to US tax rules.
3rd Prize: $10,000
Hotel accommodation, airfare reimbursement up to $1,000. All-paid performance of a joint solo recital with 2nd Prize winner at UTEP’s Borderland Chopin Festival 2025, and community outreach. Total value approximately $15,000. Subject to US tax rules.
Wilma Salzman Special Prize $1,000
for the best performance of a Chopin work (any semifinalist or finalist).
Lewis Peeples Special Prize $1,000
for a living composer’s work
